what other car could I get that looks similar to a 1999 RENAULT MEGANE SCENIC?

I am looking for a family car and will spend around 2000 for a good family car but I dont think I want renault megane scenic.

I want to buy a Diagnostic Cable for my car.. How do i know what kind of cable do I need ?

I have a Renault Megane Sedan 1.5 Dci 2004 and i dont have the car manuals.. what kind of cable do i need ? with what protocols .. ? (ISO , KKL , K-line….. ) :-s

I believe your talking about the OBDII cable.This is for like when your check engine light is on and you want to check and see want going on with your cars engine.I’m guessing that you have the scanner ,but not the cable.You should be able to get it at your auto parts store.

any comments on megane senic uk?

we are going to buy a car (not new ) around (54 plate) it will be used from time to time for our shop (delivering flowers) we have a van, but would like a mpv. looking at Renault Scenic, but would like to hear comments on others and on engine size/ diesel. Are the smaller petrol engines any good, 1.4 1.6 etc.all comments most welcome

We have one on t plate low miles ours is 19tdi.you can just click the back seats out and you have a small van size car.
you just slide into the seats no bending down.Diesel with a turbo will go all day no trouble we tow a caravan twice a year very good miles to the gallon.A very comfortable ride,easy to park,can’t think of anything bad about this car yet and we have had lots of cars in the past,all belts in the back are shoulder belts no lap ones.Oh and if its raining and you stop car the window wipers slow down to intermittent all by themselves.I would say go test drive one or two to see if you like it. good luck.

Renault Scenic Mk2 (2004 ) 1.5 dCi.?

Today while travelling from London to Nottingham the car kept loosing power ( only very slightly ) while accelerating in 5th gear, this coinsided with lots of visible black smoke from exhaust & warning on consoul display ” CHECK INJECTION ” & the orange “SERVICE” indicator illuminated. It cleared within a couple of minutes but kept happening when I needed to overtake. The engine was switched off once on the journey but the problem persisted for the whole journed. However on the return trip the car performed as per normal.
During the problem phase the MPG went down from 48.3 ( normal for fully loaded with kids ) to 39.2

It could be the egr valve is sticking open occasionally, the tend to get gummed up with a lot of soot from the exhaust. Removing the Valve and cleaning it may resolve the problem otherwise it will be a case of getting it replaced.
How ever another problem with very similar symptoms is the variable geometry vanes in the turbo charger sticking ! This was very common on 2004-2005 models and would require a new turbo fitting to resolve the problem. To be sure what you are dealing with the best thing to do would be to get a diagnostic test done on the injection system, at least that way you know your money won’t wasted !

Anyone know how to disable the front passenger airbag facility in a Renault Scenic?

I want to be able to safely use a baby’s car seat in the front seat of my car.

You should not attempt to do this yourself. Legally, you cannot do it. I attached a link to the NHTSA web site. It tells you who can get their airbags deactivated and who is eligible for on/off switches. If you don’t meet that criteria, the airbag has to stay on. I am not familiar with your car, but your baby is safest in the rear seat anyway until they are at least 12 years old.

how do you adjust the clutch manually on a renault 19 diesel 1991?

Hello,You will notice a self adjuster above the clutch pedal.

Disconnect the cable on the gear side fork , this will able you to reset the auto adjustment.

You will not require any spanners.

Buying a used Renault Clio – what do I need to look out for?

I’m currently learning to drive and have saved up to buy a car.
I’ve decided to go for a Renault Clio (a new-ish model 2001-2005) and wondered if I could get some pointers on what to look out for/to check etc.
I went to view a car the other day, a 51 reg Expression 1.2 and it seemed fine, started well, no bumps or scratches, v5 present.
I don’t know much about cars and unfortunately don’t really have anybody to go with who’s particularly ‘au fait’ with cars!

IS IT TOO BIG A RISK TO BUY THIS CAR?

My step daughter is a registered child minder. She needs a bigger car. She has seen a Renault Scenic for sale at just over £2k. It has 91,000 on the clock. She would be buying a newer car next November when she has the funds. Is it a good car to buy? Is the mileage too high? SERIOUS answers only please. Ta.

Whether the car itself is any good or not depends on the age, the newer ones tend to be better built etc, however models past 2001 aren’t so bad. Renault have had problems with the electronic features in the past, so this is something to look out for. The age is also another important point and indicates how the mileage has been done, obviously 91,000 miles in 2 years would be high but over 8 or 9 years would be average. As your step daughter is a registered child minder, i take it she will not want a car that will let her down, so this is an important decision! The price really depends on so much, like bodywork/interior condition and the trim level (air con, electrics?). Sorry I don’t think i can be much more help than that..
