New Shape Renault megane Cam belt replacement How difficult is ti to do,its a 1.9 dci?
I have a new shape megane,my renault garage charges £435 to change the belt,also at what mileage does it need replacing
at about 65 thousand for the first , they can be dificult if you are not very mechanical wise , try a smaller garage for a price you should be able to half that amount to what renault charges but you have to be careful about warrenty if it is a new car as they might say its not covered if you did not have it done by a renault approved garage. It takes about 2 hours to do one on your own the caseing and all those hard to reach bolts you have to have a jack under engine to take weight and remove the engine mounting you also have to disconnebt the alternater belt also remember how the belt all goes back on in the right pattern get it wrong and you are going to cause damage . also mark up all the pulley at the right marks make sure they dont slip when putting belt back on , if you have a manuel it should show you . This is why garages charge so much so if anything does happen your car will get repaired free of charge as they have to guarantee there work.
